Rival Consoles brings his new album Landscape from Memory to Prague as part of Spectaculare_13
On March 5, the 13th edition of the Spectaculare Festival will open its line up at MeetFactory with two remarkable names in contemporary electronic music. Rival Consoles, an icon of the Erased Tapes label, will present his new album Landscape from Memory, blending euphoria, intimacy and the restless pulses of our modern age. Joining him for his Czech premiere will be German composer Ben Lukas Boysen (also known as Hecq), with his hypnotic fusion of electronics and classical music. The festival’s opening night will connect the contrasting musical visions of Rival Consoles and Ben Lukas Boysen, revealing electronic music that is fragile, fierce, and inevitably gets under the skin.
Ryan Lee West, aka Rival Consoles, is among those who infuse electronic music with both fragility and raw energy. His work has been heard in Black Mirror, at major festivals, and in concert halls, always faithful to its aim – transmitting deep and personal emotion. His ninth album Landscape from Memory emerged this year after a period of creative silence, pieced together from fragments and memories, spontaneous ideas captured on the road, and unusual recording techniques. “The new record feels like one of Rival Consoles’ most cohesive and fully realized collections to date,” wrote Tape Op magazine. The album oscillates between euphoric synth waves, experimental rhythms, and intimate guitar passages. “It is a work that captures both joy and weight, introspection and forward motion – a sonic travelogue of human memory,” reflects Rival Consoles on his latest release.
German producer and composer Ben Lukas Boysen, also known from his earlier work under the name Hecq, makes his Prague debut with a poetics that blends classical instrumentation, electronic textures, and ambient depth. Released on Erased Tapes, his acclaimed albums Gravity, Spells, and Mirage showcase his ability to tell stories without words – only through delicate layers of sound. His performance at MeetFactory promises an immersive experience hovering between meditation and cinematic vision.
Rival Consoles and Ben Lukas Boysen will open the program of the 13th edition of the Spectaculare audiovisual festival, which takes place across Prague from March 5 to April 10. The full program will be gradually revealed at spectaculare.cz.
