Music Written for the Planetarium Dome: Spectaculare to Present a Unique Audiovisual Experience

The Spectaculare Festival presents the premiere of a groundbreaking audiovisual experience beneath the monumental LED dome of the newly renovated Planetarium Prague — a unique fusion of original music by Italian-American composer Rafael Anton Irisarri and immersive visuals by Czech artists Dalibor Cée and Alex J. Jindrák.

The project harnesses Europe’s most technologically advanced fully digital LED dome, featuring more than 45 million diodes, where space, time, and perception merge into a singular immersive moment unlike anything previously seen or heard in the Czech Republic. Spectaculare introduces an extraordinary audiovisual projection at the new Planetarium Prague, marking the first presentation of its kind in the country. The premiere features an original composition written specifically for this occasion by Rafael Anton Irisarri, whose work moves between post-minimalism, drone, ambient, and electroacoustic music.

His sound world creates a space without rhythm, movement, or narrative — suspending the listener in an expanded present. The music is accompanied by visuals created by Czech visual artists Dalibor Cée and Alex J. Jindrák. “Irisarri’s music does not propel the listener forward; it holds them within an extended moment where time slows down and becomes almost intangible. The visual projection expands this state into a dreamlike, infinite space,” explains dramaturg Josef Sedloň.

The visual dimension fully exploits the planetarium’s cutting-edge LED system. The dome, measuring over 22 meters in diameter and covered with millions of display diodes, enables a level of detail and contrast unimaginable with conventional projection technologies. At the end of March, this space will become a site of deep perception and contemplation — where experience is not guided by narrative, but by the viewer’s own sensory awareness. Irisarri’s composition, written specifically for the dome, together with the visual universe conceived exclusively for this projection, opens questions about the nature of space, infinity, and human scale. The result is an experience that transcends the traditional concert or cinematic format and reaffirms Spectaculare as a festival that continuously pushes the boundaries of audiovisual creation.

The Planetarium AV show is the final announced audiovisual project of the 13th edition of the Spectaculare Festival, taking place across multiple venues in Prague from March 5 to April 10, 2026.
